MY KIDS COULD DO THAT – AN EXHIBITION

THE PROJECT

If you were told you had three months to live, could you say you’ve lived your best life?

Michael Kiely quite possibly could.

Michael Kiely, a famous Australian ad exec from the 80s, and now an artist, living in Orange, NSW, is dying. Debilitating Parkinsons Disease and stage 4 cancer is not about to stop him from expressing himself in every last moment he has on this planet.

He launched his unapologetic debut exhibition My Kids Could Do That with a body of provocative abstract works.

Michael laughs at most people’s regard for abstract art. ‘My kids could do that’ is a favoured response by the masses. And Michael loves that response, he loves the controversy in it. Your kids could do that, but you can’t. That’s the truth in it. But what Michael knows is that it’s not the art itself that is so precious, it’s the response that is life changing. And for those that do get to truly feel a response to art... well they are the lucky ones.

Michael presents to the world a call to action... get off your knees and create. These are his dying words to anyone that dares to listen.

Emmiko came onboard to bring Michael Kiely’s call to action to life.

This event was very unique and special to me in bringing to life my father’s vision. Emma was able to represent the sophistication of the event while infusing an irreverent tone that my Dad embodies.”
